Project Runway Part II

As a follow-up to my last post about Project Runway, I thought I would post an interesting photo to compare with Chris and Christian's avant-garde creation. Alison Kelly from Season 3 mentioned in her blog that the dress reminded her of a piece by Alexander McQueen. As we all know, Christian did work for Alexander McQueen, so some have suggested that Christian may have taken his "inspiration" from the designer piece. I posted the two photographs so that you can compare and contrast and then form your own opinions. So what do you think?

That dress is gorgeous! I hadn't seen it yet, only heard from my sister that it was supposedly "avant-garde," so I wasn't expecting much. Although with this new information, I'm sure they had the McQueen dress in the back of their mind while creating this...

You have a wonderful blog!
The dress is beautiful. I agree with Stephanie, though. They probably were thinking of McQueen's dress.

I think he definitely found inspiration from McQueen, but he made it his own enough that it's still distinct. I think if he had used a different color we would have better be able to see the differents in fabrics.

oooh....they do look fairly similar. You have to give him the benefit of the doubt, since all clothing has to be inspired, in part, by things we've seen before. Although Christian is snarky, he seems very dedicated to fashion design and probably wouldn't compromise his reputation through plagiarism.
